THE WAY OF TRUFFLES
My latest and still ongoing photography reportage project is a journey into the heart of the Chianti region, where I follow Filippone, a master truffle hunter, and the young Melissa, as they navigate the rugged terrain in search of the elusive white truffle.
As I document their journey, I am struck by the deep bond between Filippone, Melissa, and their dogs. There is a sense of shared purpose and passion that fills the air, as they work tirelessly to uncover the hidden treasures of the earth.
Through my lens, I aim to capture the beauty and magic of the truffle hunt, a centuries-old tradition that is steeped in Italian culture. I want to showcase the intricate art of truffle hunting, the training of the dogs, the identification of the ideal terrain, and the thrill of the discovery.
But most importantly, I want to capture the emotions and feelings that drive Filippone, Melissa, and their dogs. The love of the land, the joy of the hunt, and the deep connection between man and animal that can only be forged through a shared pursuit of excellence.
My goal is to create a visual record that celebrates the art of truffle hunting while also honoring the mentorship between Filippone and Melissa. This is more than just a project for me; it is a journey of discovery, a tribute to the beauty of the Chianti region, and a celebration of the human spirit.
